Grief and Honoring
Grief comes in so many forms of both expression and need. In NVC the need to grieve is seen as a fundamental need. For many decades, I have been startled by the loss of honoring practices for transition, grief and also death and dying. In many other cultural traditions, there is a tradition of honoring that which is dying and having reverence for the openness of that communion throughout the process.
Addressing CPTSD and Deep Compulsion/Withdrawal
Complex PTSD or CPTSD and Deep Compulsion/Withdrawal adaptive behavior, may have been shaped by iterations of different or the same trauma, with limited or no sense of prior agency, so there may be a need to work not just with the adaptation at the root level, but also in it’s internal, subconscious associations with expanding lists of stimuli. That is to say, in these cases, we can look at behavioral patterns with a mindfulness for how these behaviors have been adaptively applied and have often lost connection with the original context. In these case, awareness will need to be applied not only to the root cause but the iterative behavior. Utilizing IFS, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory and Relational Life Therapy practices, these patterns can be combed through and met with restoration of awareness, facilitating both spaciousness and sense of agency.
The effectiveness of this work may be increased by applying the Safe and Sound Protocol, Energy Work, Somatic and Expressive Inner Child and Adult Work, etc. based on qualifying factors.
This work takes time and care and builds first from co-creating a safe dialoguing space with the coach/practitioner. Every piece of the work builds on conscious permission, thus building awareness along the way.
Clients may find that after some concentrated work together they are able to do the recovery and healing work more and more on their own.
This process is about supporting clients with uncovering their courage, natural confidence and empowerment.
